Endowment Program

Text Box: An “endowment” is an asset which is permanently set aside for investment on behalf of an organization.
The income from these investments supports the YMCA while the principal is preserved in perpetuity.

Text Box: MISSION

The Santa Monica Family YMCA is dedicated to serving its members by providing programs and services that enrich the quality of the physical, mental, spiritual and social lives of individual members, their families and communities.
In all we do, we will be guided by principles of love and respect for all regardless of race, gender, age, or religious preference.
Text Box: HISTORY

On April 19, 1901, the Santa Monica Young Men’s Christian Association was incorporated by a group of concerned community leaders. C.C Moore and W. Lee Chambers stepped forward as President and Secretary. Although the seed had been planted, it would be another two decades before the Y became active (1927).
In 1978, the YMCA named changed to the Santa Monica Family YMCA and emphasis on entire family service programs was implemented. Today, we have a more than 85,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility.
Still committed to basic Christian principles, we offer over 100 different programs throughout the year for people of all ages and faiths. We work for the development of each person in physical strength, confidence, and self-worth which support the growth in spirit, mind, and body. We help people to live happier, healthier, and more productive lives. We build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities through programs that teach the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Text Box: WHY THE $25 MILLION GOAL

Endowment development is a program of assuring future financial stability for the YMCA (cash and known commitments) that, if all were “Cash on Hand”, the income form the fund’s earnings would product 25% of the operating income of as projected five to ten years in the future.
Strong Endowment will allow the YMCA the flexibility to respond and to serve our community’s ever-changing needs, in addition to providing a financial “cushion” in the event of emergencies.
